Giant beds

An illustration for Alan Crosby’s column in Who Do You Think You Are magazine. In his column, Alan describes how the height of a four-poster bed was once a status symbol, and how “getting into bed felt like mountaineering”. This was such an exciting idea to illustrate - it reminded me of the fairytale ‘The Princess and the Pea’ I loved as a child, and I wanted to create something playful but magical and slightly absurd.

Hand drawn in pencil and ink - digitally coloured in Photoshop.
